I love Apple Music. I’ve been onboard since the beginning, and it only felt natural, since that is where my music catalog had been stored from my CD collection and where one could legitimately purchase music for cheap.
Anyway. It’s 03:18 as of the writing of this sentence. For those who don’t do shift work, 03:18 is also known as ‘way too early to do anything.’ I’m stealing out some time for a break. I intend to finish another post I had started writing at the airport in Punta Gorda, FL, a couple of days ago. But something caught my eye on the Home page for Apple Music: “Find Your Mood”
Heartbreak. Feeling Blue. Energy. Focus. Feel Good. Love. Relax.
Pick one, and the glorious algorithm (hail hail) spits out a radio station for you. I just now clicked on “Energy” and I get “Save Yourself” by Stabbing Westward. I love it. The song is, indeed, energetic. Good ol’ 90’s industrial rock. Just because it’s energetic doesn’t mean it’s happy by default. “I cannot save you/I can’t even save myself/So just save yourself.”
Makes me laugh a little. I feel like I have a brick inside my skull, even after three Advil. I’m not tired, but I could go for another dose of that special Monster energy drink, the one that’s in homage to the race car driver, I think?
03:25. Oh yeah!!! “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. I love how much Apple knows me.
Where’s the mood that would fit the middle-aged divorced night shift RN who is pseudo-homeless (yeah, I’m not, it’s just that my stupid earthly possessions are split between an empty apartment in Florida, my parent’s house, and my crash pad extended stay hotel) and addled with a growing list of woes?
03:31, “Testify” by Rage Against The Machine.
Stupid neuropathy in my fingers. I think it’s my iron-deficiency anemia acting up. Guess I’ll mosey over to MyChart and schedule that follow up I’ve been meaning to do…
Peace and love unto all the people who read this. Stay tuned for more cool stuff.
